Today I am at the 8 week mark. It is a nice milestone, and only 4 more weeks to go until we are past the first trimester. It is becoming harder and harder to keep the secret, but Marty and I have decided it is best to wait until we get a little further along. Stephanie called today, and I wanted to blurt it out several times!! But, we have decided that we're going to go through the genetic testing between weeks 10-12. We have struggled with this decision, but think we'd rather be aware of problems up front. We're looking forward to another ultrasound in a few weeks to see how the twins are doing in there! I know they are making me feel pretty queasy at times, but Marty and I agree that's a good thing!
This weekend is Fathers Day, and we are spending most of the weekend packing up our home for our move. Next weekend will be the final move weekend, then we will head to San Francisco for a week for a class for me and some much needed vacation. Touring the wine country is going to be alot of fun for Marty since he'll have a designated driver!

Beans, Not Bean
Well, we left Topsail Island early yesterday morning to arrive back in Charlotte for our 4pm ultrasound. When we got there, a patient had an emergency, and we waited close to 45 minutes for our turn. It seemed like an eternity!! Once we got in the office and got settled, the doctor was immediately able to find the heartbeat! It was a wonderful sound! The smile on Marty's face was priceless. I will never forget it!
After some maneuvering, and more pictures, the doctor was able to tell us, "118 heart rate", and "124 heart rate". I was very confused, and then she said, "TWO BABIES"! We are having TWINS! Shock would be an understatement! The first thing Marty said was "Oh God, two cars, two college and then something about snip-snip".
Here are pictures of Baby A and Baby B. For each baby, the doctor gave us a picture of what the ultrasound sees, and then she also provided a close-up picture of each baby:

The next picture is a picture of both babies, side by side. They are about the size of a small bean.

We are so excited, but also terrified at the same time. As of this date, we still haven't told anyone. After this news, it is going to be increasingly hard to keep our secret between us.
We feel very blessed, and hope very much our two little "beans" make it into the world safely! We both feel so incredibly blessed with the relationships we have with our siblings, how special to be a twin!! :)
