Bobcats are Great....and I Don't Mean the Charlotte Bobcats

On Friday evening, Marty headed back into the yard to begin cleanup of our war zone! It was the first day it had really been dry enough to even attempt it. He started shoveling the ditches by hand, and ended up coming in early as he had managed to rub a blister the size of Juptiter on the very middle of his right hand. On Saturday morning, he called a rental company and was able to rent a Bobcat for the weekend. It was worth the money, and since it is a holiday weekend, he doesn't have to return it until Tuesday. Hopefully, he can get all the ditches covered in the next few days without alot of manual labor. I know he'd rather be on the lake this weekend, so I still feel pretty sorry for him! He still looks like he enjoys playing in the dirt!! :)

Mom and Dad came down on Saturday too while Marty was working and helped me hang many of our pictures and mirrors, as well as putting together one of our guest rooms. We really got alot done, and I enjoyed the company. They also took us to dinner as a belated birthday gift to me. It has been lonely for me while Marty spends all day in the yard. Kevin and Rowdy may come today, and I always enjoy seeing my little nephew, Kevin too!

The Rain Was Not Kind To Us.....

Marty spent so much time working in the yard last weekend that he failed to take a glance at the weather forecast, as did I. In his geotechnical engineer terms, apparently the rain we got last week is considered a "100 year storm". When his company goes in and designs sites and sets up areas for drainage, they have to take into account the possibility of a 100 year storm. We weren't really expecting this rain, and Marty's team didn't get the ditches covered before the rain came in. Here are some pictures of the washouts we had. These are all washouts from the side of our yard down into our new neighbors yard. They are in the process of building. The white pipes you see are our irrigation lines!

Downhill Slide to 40....

Today is my 35th birthday. Marty reminded me last week that I was on the "downhill slide to 40". I guess this is true, but it is going to be a wild ride that is for sure, chasing two little Smith boys around in my elderly years!
I took the day off work and am going to the Ballantyne Resort here in Charlotte for a prenatal massage and a facial. I am really looking forward to it. Especially since our gas service got cut yesterday because we failed to change the account over to our name. It seems like it is something new every day! I got quite a kick out of hearing Marty get in the cold shower this morning, I just laughed and laughed! When it was my turn, I completely felt his pain, WOW! Oh well, we'll get it back up and running sometime today!

Pretty Girl...

Blaine and Lynn came down this weekend. Blaine came to help Marty and Jonathan with the irrigation install, and I got to spend the afternoon with Lynn and Morgan and Nicholas. Morgan wanted me to curl her hair all day, so we finally got to that right before she left. I think she looks very grown up!

I guess since I am going to be having two little boys, she will have to remain my only little girl. The kids seem so excited about the babies, and I am sure most of you remember that Morgan was not at all pleased about Marty and I getting married, so we are both happy that she seems happy about the babies on the way. She even gave us a list of her favorite boy names, and Nick told me he loved the babies. Kids are so sweet....

Irrigation Anyone?

For those of you who don't know, our new yard is enormous! In order for grass to grow in this warm climate, we knew we were going to have to shop around for someone to install an irrigation system. Well, it is actually pretty expensive, so Marty decided we could save money by turning it into a "Do-It-Yourself" project. He enlisted his normal house project victim, Jonathan, and they began the big install this weekend. He was so proud that he had gotten a great deal on all the supplies, but I think Marty now understands why people charge alot to do it! It is VERY hard work! I felt really sorry for him this morning when they headed back out to start back to work. He didn't look very happy! I do think he has met about every neighbor on our street this weekend, so that is the upside. Hopefully they will get the bulk of it done today.

Here is a good shot of the house since the landscaping went in. We are getting there!

The "Boys" Debut!

As promised, here are some select pictures from this morning's ultrasound where both boys debuted their penises!

Baby B showed himself first:

Baby A, we were originally told was a girl this morning. After we had celebrated having one of both, Baby A flipped over to reveal his true identity. I think he was confused since his Daddy has been calling him a girl for four months! He got the last laugh on that one!

Here is Baby A's pretty profile. He was the only one who actually showed his face. I think he has Daddy's nose!

Baby B did not show us his face at all. He only "showed his stuff". He takes after Uncle Jonathan! Inside joke there!

Finally, both boys posed together, lying horizontally on top of each other head to feet.

Stay tuned for more information in the coming weeks. We have another ultrasound scheduled September 16th. Apparently, we'll be having one every month until the birth!

Announcement

Marty and I are proud to announce that we will be parents to two sons! Both boys looked perfect on the ultrasound, and showed their penises willingly!! Everything looked right on track, and both boys were very active and funny this morning! They are laying right on top of each other, so one boy was kicking his brother in the face the entire time. As the technician was measuring one of the boys head, a foot would come into view often!

I will post some pictures this evening. Obviously, we are very happy to be blessed with two perfectly healthy babies, no matter what their gender! Thank you for all your thoughts.

I have had alot of requests for pregnancy pictures, so I had Marty take a shot this morning before we left for the ultrasound. 17 Weeks....

Jessy and Rowdy - Oh, The Love

I went into Lexington this weekend to attend my friend, Amy Utt's birthday party, Happy Birthday Amy! Spending time with Jessy and Rowdy together is a good preparation for the arrival of the twins. If we can keep them under control, I feel as if we can do anything. Check this nice film clip I captured on Friday evening. The video is better with sound, but you get the idea without sound!

Punishment for their behavior was a BATH for each of them. Jackson lucked out!

Baby Predictions

I thought it would be fun for us to have everyone place their bets on what our "beans" will be (well, I think they are "limes" by now, no just checked, avocados!). It seems like they are compared to a different fruit or vegetable every week! August 19th at 8:15am is the big day! Hopefully the kids will cooperate and show their stuff, but please vote on which you think it will be!!

We Survived the Move

To all who are wondering, the move went well this weekend. We had a minor glitch with our DirecTV installer, and still have no TV service, but I will not go into that story. If you truly have to know, ask Marty! If anyone knows what happened on "The Closer" last night, let me know!!

We are slowly getting unpacked and both of us are thrilled to be back in our own bed. It feels somewhat surreal to finally be in the house! Thanks to everyone who came and helped us with the move. It was greatly appreciated!!

I'll get some pictures up on the site when everything is in order.

The "Rowdy" Boy Has Arrived in Lexington

Kevin and his "son" Rowdy, the puggle, moved back in with Mom and Dad this weekend after five fantastic years in Chapel Hill (well, Rowdy for only one year)! Kevin will start his new job with Dixon Hughes at the end of the month, and will be moving down to Charlotte. We're really happy he's going to be around! The next month should be interesting in the Koonts household, well, as far as the dogs are concerned. Rowdy LOVES, LOVES, LOVES his cousins Jessy and Jackson. Jackson tries to keep up with Rowdy, but since Rowdy has endless energy, Jackson is too old to hang. As for Jessy, well, yes, you guessed it. She hates his guts!! We had always thought they would get used to each other, but it is like World Wide Wrestling 24/7 when they are together! Everyone please pray for Mom and Dad! At least Jessy will love having her Uncle Kevin around!

See how much he loves her! And, no reciprocation whatsoever!

Signed, Sealed, Delivered

We are officially new home owners! We closed on our new house yesterday, and the moving will start today. I am sure it is going to be a crazy weekend!!
As for an update on me, I am starting to feel much better, and my energy and appetite have returned! My stomach has definitely "popped", and you can definitely tell I am pregnant now! I am 15 weeks along today. We are starting to get anxious about our next ultrasound. I think we are both really ready to find out what kind of parts these little people I am carrying around have! Marty still calls them "the girls", but my guess is that it will be "his boys" in a couple more weeks. That is my prediction! I am still holding out for one of each, but I guess this is just Mothers intuition!

I will update after the big move this weekend to let everyone know we survived!
