The Story....

To all my loyal blog readers that are awaiting "the story" I promised in my last post, here it is.

It all started in 1991 in Poplar Hall at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. It is funny how minor changes and detours shape your entire life. I had planned to room with two of my friends from high school, but the University made an error in our room assignments, and we ended up in a brand new residence hall, which was not the norm for a freshman. During that year, I met a girl up the hall named Amy. And, I met another girl across the hall named Marci. I wish I had a fun college picture to share of us. Maybe I will find one some day....

Amy had a cute boyfriend who lived at the end of the hall named Reggie! And Reggie had a roomate named Jeff!

During my junior year, Amy, Marci and I all became roomates. Then, Marci met this very tall guy from Indiana named Brad! Within a year, Amy and Reggie and Marci and Brad were engaged to be married. They got married one week apart in 1995! I was in both of their weddings!

Then, as our lives progressed, I moved back home to Lexington, Amy and Reggie stayed in Charlotte, and Marci and Brad ended up in Mooresville...years pass....

Kristi and I are invited to Brad's 30th birthday party in a park in Charlotte. I had probably not seen Marci or Amy in several years. Did you know we almost didn't go? Kristi and I went out and partied a little too hard the night before, and making the drive to Charlotte wasn't appealing, but we went anyway! While we were there, Kristi met this tall boy from Missouri, Matt, who was Brad's first cousin. They got married in 2002! Marci and I were both in the wedding...

So, poor little Kim was left unmarried and all alone in Lexington! One Christmas, Kristi and Matt invited me to a party. Also invited was Jeff, whom I mentioned above, who was Reggie's roomate in college. We talked and caught up...then a few weeks later, Jeff saw his friend Marty. He knew Marty was from Lexington, and asked him if he knew me. Many of you know that Marty and I have known each other casually for several years as we had some close mutual friends in Lexington, but Jeff is actually the person who brought us together because Marty called me right after they saw each other and we began dating...married in 2007!

Another funny aside is that Marty went to the same college as all of us!!

The circle here is just crazy if you think about it! That we all found each other through one room assignment in Poplar Hall! I love the story! And after 20 years, four mariages and seven, beautiful, awesome kids between us and one on the way, I still love the story and the people!!

Here's the cast....

Amy and Reggie...

Brad and Marci...

Kristi and Matt...

Marty and Jeff (aka "Spy")

All the kiddos (minus Baby Hubie who's still hanging out with Mommy)

And, the whole gang, 20 years in the making...minus Jeff.

An Evening in the Park...

Last Saturday, we spent the afternoon in the park with my college roomates. We have seven kids between us. It is hard to believe we have known each other for twenty years, but we still make it work even though we all move in different directions. Here are pictures of all the kids....adult picture in later post. THERE, is a story to be told....to be continued!

Boo Boo City.... :(

Lucas took quite the fall at daycare this week...well, he ran into the side of the building while running and not looking where he was going. Here is his boo boo on Thursday after our trip to the doctor. Noah announces to everyone he sees to take a look at Lucas' Big Boo Boo. Like people can't see it or something!

And here it is today, Sunday. Poor Boy!

2011 Hail Storm

Here are some pictures from our hail storm on Saturday night! Marty was out of town at the Masters, and luckily, I had gone over to our neighbors house for a little while. I was happy to be with them when this crazy hail storm hit!

We have some definite damage, with some of our siding with holes, the gutters banged up pretty badly, and possibly needing to replace our roof. Our neighbors, Ron and Andrea lost all three of their car windshields!

But, everyone is OK, and that is all that matters!

If Mama Ain't Happy.....

Ain't nobody happy! Isn't that the saying? Well, let me tell you, Mama is HAPPY! My new dining room set came today! I have been waiting patiently on this set for three long years. Problem was, the set I wanted had a very large china cabinet that did not fit in the pre-made niche in my dining room. I fretted and whined and fretted and whined for three long years! Then, Marty told me to get over it and find another set. So, I found another set. It didn't fit either....so I fretted and whined and fretted and whined, until my husband finally saw my pain, and then this happened! A bigger hole...my Christmas present, a wonderful surprise on a Thursday afternoon after returning home from work!

And then, today, my present to me came! A sight that made Mommy giddy inside! Almost as giddy as the day that the man she loves made the hole bigger!
