Happy Halloween and 28 Weeks!

Well, we made it to 28 weeks, a big milestone according to our multitude of doctors. We had our ultrasound this morning, and did get to see some 3D images of the babies this morning. It was amazing!! It made me feel so much closer to them to actually see their faces. Baby A was very visible, and his face really looked alot like my Dad's. Baby B had a hard time giving us a good shot because his nose is really smashed up into my uterus. We got a few pictures of him, but not as clear as with Baby A. You can definitely tell that they have different looks about them, which is good. Maybe we'll be able to tell them apart!!

Baby A weighed 2 pounds and 6 ounces (49th percentile), while Baby B has taken the upper hand and now weighs 2 pounds and 9 ounces (57th percentile). This is the first time that they did not weigh exactly the same in pounds and ounces. Their fluid levels still looked very good, and they didn't want to see me again for another 4 weeks. By then, I bet I will be alot bigger, and so will they!

The cervix had not changed at all, and the doctor told me today that based on studies they have done on twin pregnancies, the way my cervix looks now, I have about a 95% chance of carrying the babies to a minimum of at least 34 weeks. I don't know if I believe all that, but we'll take all the good news we can.

Well, that is it for now! Hope everyone has a Happy and Safe Halloween!

Doctor Visit

Just a quick update on my doctor visit this morning. Everything looked good, no changes, which is good news. Both the boys were sleeping, so they were very still for their heartbeat checks. Some interesting stats....I had not gained any weight since the last visit. But, I am measuring 36 weeks now. The doctor said he wasn't concerned, and said the babies would get what they need, and as long as their growth was progressing normally, he wasn't worried. At the beginning of my pregnancy they suggested a 40 pound weight gain, but I have only gained 18 so far. If I gain another 20 pounds in the final weeks, Marty may need a crane to get me out of bed in the mornings (and at night for my 5-6 bathroom visits!!)

I also had the glucose test done this morning, and should have the results back on that in a couple days. We have our next ultrasound on Friday, our 8th so far. I hope we'll get some 3D/4D images this time.

Another update on Friday....

New Friend

For my "Weekend Pass", we drove down to Rock Hill to attend a Halloween Party that we were invited to by our friends Scott and Kelly. Marty and Scott work together at ESP. We were supposed to dress up, but I didn't have the energy and Marty couldn't come up with a creative idea, so we just went as ourselves. We still had a nice time. It was nice to get out and socialize some. I just took a spot on the couch and stayed there all night. I made it until 10:45! Marty was so proud! That is about 2hours past my bedtime. Luckily, Marty was able to mingle some since Scott and Kelly's miniature schnauzer, Gus, kept me company. He had to mingle too, but he always came back around! He was so sweet! Here are some pictures...

Gus, finally looking at the camera....

Gus says, "I believe it is twin boys!"

The Smith Boys Spend another week in the Belly!

Yes, we made it through another full week. It has been 4 weeks to the day since our big scare. I am 27 weeks along today. Another 8 weeks would be fabulous! Things seemed to have calmed down some. I definitely enjoyed my days back to work the past two weeks, although, I am still getting plenty of work done from home. I am so grateful for the busy distraction of quarter end!

Marty had planned on starting the dog fence this weekend, but of course, it is raining, and he isn't going to even think about messing around in our beautiful grass while it is wet. I guess we'll be hanging out here.

I have also acquired a new addiction this week (other than Little Debbie Oatmeal pies and Rainbow Sherbert), FACEBOOK. I had started a page a few months back, but really didn't do anything with it. When I checked my Hotmail email account this week, I had all kinds of friend requests, so I decided to revisit the page. Marty has been making fun of me because that is the first thing I want to do every evening, check on my Facebook page. It is really cool how many people I have reconnected with from college and high school. So, if you're reading the blog, and you're on Facebook, send me a friend request!! :)

Hope everyone has a great weekend! We have a doctor visit on Tuesday, and an ultrasound on Friday, so I will keep everyone posted!

Green, Green Grass

Aren't these pictures beautiful!? I am so proud of my husband's efforts to grow us the prettiest grass in the neighborhood!!

This is a shot of the front yard:

This is a shot of the back yard:

Marty is hoping to start on the dog's fence this weekend, IF the weather cooperates. We are hoping to get them back home soon, definitely before the babies arrive. I know Mom and Dad would like to have their life back!!

Surprise Baby Shower

Today, my Mom, my Grandmother, and my Great Aunt Carole who is visiting from Florida drove down for the day to see me since I couldn't drive into Lexington. I looked forward to seeing them all week, especially Carole who I haven't seen since my wedding. I always enjoy my time spent with her. I was supposed to have my first baby shower today, which she was planning to attend, but due to all the issues I have been having, we put it on hold. So, she ended up giving me her own shower, which we very much enjoyed, complete with gifts for the Smith boys, one for the grandmother to be, and complete with cupcakes from Fancy Pastry! We also had very special handmade cards from Carole's grand-daughters, Chandler and Addison, who also sent a nice gift. We wish they could have been here too!

We also rode into downtown Belmont for lunch at Sammy's Pub, which was very good, and we stopped for a couple picture ops, courtesy of our lone male companion, Marty! Mom Watts provided all the free entertainment we needed so it was a great day!!

Test Results

Negative results from test this morning. More good news....looking forward to returning to the office a couple days a week and working from home the rest.

Weekend Happenings and Monday Update

I am going to be in big trouble for posting these pictures, but everyone knows I do pretty much what I want anyway! I couldn't resist posting Marty's installation of our bathroom shades, and his cute little feet sticking out from the bottom! These shades and our study blinds came in this past week. We are ordering just a few every month, and paying them off rather than incurring all the expense at once! We ordered some for the den last night, and those will take care of our main problem areas.

The weekend was nice, beautiful weather here in Lake Wylie. We had a relaxing weekend for the most part. I feel like I am always relaxing these days. We managed to sleep in somewhat late on Saturday morning, but were awoken by the Spanish music coming from the construction workers at our neighbor's house. It was quite comical! Marty made his weekly trip to Home Depot, and his Mom came for a visit. She of course brought some more food, which has been so good, and she also helped Marty with the blind measurements, and also helped us clean some. I spent most of the day resting! Sunday was just a lazy football Sunday, complete with GREAT naps for both of us!

I had another doctor appointment this morning with my regular OB. He checked me again, and noted no changes in the cervix, good news! He also did the same swab test as last week. If that test comes back negative tomorrow, he has approved me going back to work for two days a week. I am so happy! I have been able to work full time from home very easily, but we all agree it will be good for my mental health to resume some of my normal activities. I would just be expected to try to limit my movement around the office as much as possible. And, that is a perfectly acceptable compromise for me!!

A Friday With No Drama

Everything went really well this morning at my ultrasound. The babies are up to a pound and a half, and they are now both head down! So, I guess no guaranteed c-section for me! They still have plenty of time left to move around, so we will see, but I think I probably need to go ahead and prepare myself for either type of delivery.

As for the cervix, it was back up to 3.5 cm, a very long length, which is good. The doctor said he only grew concerned with multiples when the cervix reached 1.5cm, so he felt good about where I was.

We have another appointment on Monday with my regular OB, so he will be the one who will determine if I can resume some normal activities. I hope I might be able to resume some trips into the office, at least a couple days of the week, rather than working from home. I think that would be really good for my mental health, but we will do what the doctor thinks is best.

I will update again on Monday after our appointment.

2nd Thursday at Home

Just a quick update from 761 Cedar Hill Lane. I am doing fine, and very happy that work has picked up, so I have been staying busy at my computer. Karen, one of my very good friends and co-workers came down yesterday, and we put in a full day with cash flow training, as well as some other work items. It felt good to keep busy with work most of the day. The boys are moving and kicking as I type!! And, I've had my hair fixed and make-up on for two days in a row now! Woo-hoo!

All the girls from my office visited today for lunch. I enjoyed seeing everyone, and was happy I could show them all my new house. I am very lucky to have such good friends at work! They have all been really good to me, lots of calls and nice emails! Thanks to Marty for straightening up last night, even though I know he didn't want to!

We have another ultrasound in the morning at 9:15am, so hopefully, we will get news that we've had no big changes, other than chubbier babies!

GO DEACS!! Big game against Clemson tonight!

Look What the Yetter Family Sent

I got a cute little gift in the mail from Melissa and Mark today! It was a nice surprise! Matching outfits from Gymboree...one of my favorite baby stores! Very stylish, with the cute little raccoons across the front! Thanks to the Yetter family! We're slowly adding to the wardrobe!

Jessy Re-Emerges in Lake Wylie

With my home confinement, and us really not spending any quality time in Lexington lately, I have really been missing my little Jezebelle! My mom came down yesterday along with my grandmother to offer us some help with cleaning, etc. So, Jessy came along for the ride. Jessy was not quite sure of what was going on! She finally settled in on one of her favorite cushion spots. She also has a new found friend in Mom Watts! Marty told Mom she could bring Jackson next time, and she said she'd have to rent a horse trailer, which is probably true!

Marty did some more yard projects yesterday, and finished one of our shrub beds next to the garage. It turned out really good. It was such a pretty day yesterday, so I tried to spend some time outside on the porch with him! I absolutely love this time of year.

Marty's Mom also sent us a TON of food to keep in the freezer so Marty doesn't have to spend so much time with domestic work every evening. We really appreciate her contribution to the cause! I didn't see everything she sent, but I hear we have a really good selection to choose from! Imagine that!

We Made it to 24 Weeks

Well, I made it through my first week of home confinement! I'll have to say it felt pretty dismal, but all my pregnancy journals say the babies probably gained 4 ounces this week, so we're up to a pound and a half. Marty took a shot of me last night. I really needed to get out, so we took a quick drive up the road to have dinner. I was so excited to get to do something normal! Of course, Baby B kicked me in the back the entire time I was eating! He is getting really good at that, and it is not very pleasant! The poor kids are all crammed up in there. I feel bad for Baby B, but I feel for Baby A too. Baby B's butt sits right on his face! At the last ultrasound, Baby A kept pushing his hand in Baby B's butt, like, "get off me!". I hope they work out some of their differences before they arrive!

At least the weekend is here and I'll have some company! I should be able to keep busy next week with work stuff. We'll have another ultrasound next Friday, so hopefully, no big changes.

Negative Result on Test

We got good news this afternoon. The test I had on Tuesday did not show any indications of the chemical that they were looking for that might be a sign of imminent labor, so looks like we may be safe for the next couple weeks.

Marty went and got my computer at Duke Energy today, so at least for the rest of the week, I'll be able to occupy my time during the day somewhat. I am feeling very grateful I am still going to be able to work from home.

My friend Crystal, and her sweet little dog Grits came down to visit me today on her day off, so it was nice to have some company! Grits occupied most of my time though. She likes the way my fingernails feel on her back, and she didn't leave my side but a couple times!

Good News For Wednesday

I thought I'd report today on something less depressing than pre-term contractions and cervical length. I was happy to see this morning when I walked to my computer that we have lots of green grass popping up in our yard! Our irrigation system is doing its job it appears! I took a picture, although its hard to see the green!
